Initial Consultation
Thank you for your interest in working with me. This page will help you prepare for your initial consultation and become familiar with the way my practice is organized.
Your first appointment is a 60-minute initial consultation. During this time, you and I will discuss what brings you to therapy and begin developing an understanding of how we might work together.
Sometimes one appointment is enough to determine the next steps. Occasionally, additional meetings are helpful before deciding how to proceed. Part of this process is determining whether we’re a good fit to work together. If either of us concludes that another mental health professional would better meet your needs, I’m glad to provide referrals.
I prefer to meet prospective clients in the office because it allows us to establish our relationship in person from the very beginning. Telehealth is available when needed. I do not offer brief telephone consultations.
Client Portal
The Client Portal is the secure online workspace we use to support our work together. Prior to your appointment, you’ll receive a link by email to connect to the client portal. You’ll be asked to read and complete several forms, including the Outpatient Services Agreement, Notice of Privacy Practices, and Authorization for Recurring Billing. Please review this information carefully and note any questions.
Please install the SimplePractice Client Portal app on your smartphone or tablet after activating your account. Once you know where things are and how we’ll communicate, those details quickly fade into the background, allowing our attention to remain where it belongs—on the work we came here to do.
The Client Portal will become the primary way we communicate about appointments, forms, and other routine matters throughout your care.

Many prospective clients have questions about insurance, fees, scheduling, and other practical matters before the first appointment.
