Crisis & After-Hours Care

Psychotherapy sometimes includes periods of increased distress, instability, or concern about safety. When that happens, I want you to know how to reach me, what you can reasonably expect from my availability, and how we may plan together before a difficult situation becomes more urgent.
As you consider whether to work with me, I ask that you take this approach to crisis planning and my availability into account. My practice is designed for outpatient psychotherapy and does not provide continuous crisis coverage. It is important that the level of support I can offer be a reasonable match for your needs.
If You Need Support Sooner
If you believe it would be helpful to meet sooner than our next scheduled appointment, you may check the Client Portal for an earlier appointment and request an available time. If you do not see an appointment that meets your needs, send me a message through the Portal and let me know that you are hoping to meet urgently.
If you have not already done so, I encourage you to download the Client Portal app so that you can securely message me, request appointments, and access the Portal from your phone when you need it.
I will respond as soon as I reasonably can during my usual working availability. I may sometimes be able to offer an additional or earlier appointment, but I cannot guarantee that an urgent appointment will always be available.
