Telehealth Agreements
Please review our mutual expectations when working together over Telehealth.
- There are potential benefits and risks of Telehealth that differ from in-person sessions.
- I have the same responsibility to protect your privacy over Telehealth as in office appointments, where I can control the environment. You will need to take a more active role in establishing an environment conducive to psychotherapy.
- It is important to be in a quiet, private space that is free of distractions (including cell phone notifications) during the session.
- Neither you nor I will record the Telehealth session.
- We agree to use the dedicated Telehealth platform that is integrated into my practice. SimplePractice is HIPAA compliant and HITRUST certified. The HITRUST framework is the gold standard of security certifications in the healthcare industry. You can learn more about all the ways we keep your data safe.
- It is important to use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi.
- We need a back-up plan (e.g., phone number where you can be reached) to restart the session or to reschedule it, in the event of technical problems.
- We need a safety plan that includes at least one emergency contact and the hospital emergency department closest to your location, in the event of a crisis.
