New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute: In Conversation with Edmund White

On October 12, 2012, I’ll be attending another installment of the In conversation with series at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (NYSPI), in which Lois Oppenheim, Ph.D. interviews some of the greatest creative and literary figures of our time. The series’ blend of cultural exploration and psychoanalytic inquiry continues this week when her guest will be Edmund White, formidable contributor to gay literature, whose autobiographical My Lives chronicled his various experiences in psychotherapy, both ‘reparative’ in the early 1960s to gay-affirmative in later decades. Dr. Oppenheim’s reflections on her preparation for interviewing White can be found in her Huffington Post blog.
